How to report copyright infringement — and how to dispute a claim.
Designated contact
Copyright complaints and counter-notices go to tips@hackedwire.com with “DMCA” in the subject line.
Takedown notices
A valid notice must include:
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed.
- Identification of the material on hackedwire.com claimed to be infringing, with enough detail for us to find it (URL required).
- Your contact information (name, address, email, phone).
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act for the copyright owner.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
What happens next
Valid notices are reviewed promptly. Material found to infringe is removed or disabled, and repeat infringers lose access to submission features.
Counter-notice
If your material was removed and you believe the removal was mistaken, send a counter-notice with: identification of the removed material and its former URL; your contact information; a consent-to-jurisdiction statement; and your signature under penalty of perjury. We will restore material as the law requires unless the complainant files court action.
Imagery provenance
Every image we ship carries a recorded source and a public credit. If you believe an image on HackedWire infringes your rights, the DMCA contact above is the fastest path to resolution — and our standards require us to take it seriously.
